The Saint Lucia Kings have announced the addition of five overseas players to their squad for the upcoming Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season. These international signings join a 13-man group of West Indian players drafted by the “Boys in Blue” earlier this year.
One of the new signings is fan favourite Noor Ahmad, a left-arm wrist-spinner. Ahmad played a big role in the Kings’ first title win in 2024, taking 22 wickets, including important ones in the final in Guyana. Last year, he skipped the CPL to play in other T20 leagues.
Wicketkeeper-batter and CPL veteran Tim Seifert is also back this season. Last year, Seifert was one of the top batsmen, scoring a century from just 40 balls at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground. This matched Andre Russell’s 2018 record for the fastest hundred in CPL history.
Sri Lankan players Maheesh Theekshana and Charith Asalanka have also joined the Kings. Theekshana brings sharp variations and consistency in both the powerplay and death overs, while Asalanka adds more batting strength and leadership experience to the team.
Shadley van Schalkwyk, a quick bowler based in the United States, completes the group of overseas players. He will be looking to make an impact in the seam-friendly conditions at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground.
