“Nakuha sa dasal.”
This was the heartfelt realization shared by actress-host Kim Chiu as she celebrated her 20th anniversary in the entertainment industry.
Known today as one of the country’s most successful actresses and television personalities, Kim took a moment to look back on the young girl from Cebu who once dreamed of a better life for herself and her family.
In an emotional social media post marking the milestone, the Chinita Princess reflected on how faith guided her through life’s challenges long before she entered showbiz.
“Today marks my 20th year in showbiz. Honestly, it still feels unreal,” Kim wrote.
“As i sit here and look back, i can’t help but remember in being that young girl from Cebu. Every Sunday, my mom would bring me to church-either at the Sto. Niño Church or Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Most of the time, it was just the two of us.”
Kim recalled how her mother encouraged her to pray and openly talk to God about her dreams.
“She would always tell me: ‘Istoryaa ang Ginoo. Ingna Siya unsa sa imong ganahan.’ So i did. I prayed for good grades. I prayed for someone to help send us to school. I prayed for a house we could finally call our own. I prayed that one day we’d never have to keep asking for help. I prayed that i would have enough so i could help my family.”
Looking back now, Kim said many of those dreams once felt impossible.
“Back then, some of those prayers felt impossible. And yet, years later, here i am. Living the life i once prayed so hard for.”
The actress also expressed her gratitude to the loyal supporters who have remained by her side throughout her two-decade journey in the entertainment industry.
“To my solid supporters who have loved and supported me unconditionally for two decades-thank you. Your time, effort, loyalty, and belief in me mean more than words can ever get express. Thank you for growing with me and standing by me through every season of my life.”
Kim likewise thanked ABS-CBN, Star Magic, her colleagues, brand partners, and everyone who became part of her journey.
Her showbiz career began in 2006 when she joined and eventually won the first teen edition of ‘Pinoy Big Brother.’ The victory paved the way for a remarkable career that saw her become one of the most recognizable faces on Philippine television.
Over the years, Kim successfully ventured into acting, music, hosting, and digital content, earning numerous accolades and becoming a household name among Filipinos.
Today, she continues to thrive as one of ABS-CBN’s most bankable stars, with recent projects including the hit series ‘Linlang,’ ‘What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?,’ and the romantic thriller drama ‘The Alibi.’
Despite all the success she has achieved, Kim remains grounded and continues to attribute her blessings to faith, hard work, and the people who believed in her.
Ending her anniversary message on a joyful note, Kim wrote: “Cheers to 20 years!!!! And hopefully more and more!!!!”
