Hollywood actor and ‘Thirty Seconds to Mars’ music band leader Jared Leto has been accused of sexual misconduct by four women, according to a new BBC documentary examining claims made against the award-winning entertainer.
The alleged incidents reportedly happened between 2002 and 2016, when the women were teenagers and Leto was in his 30s and 40s. The actor, who is now 54, has denied all the sexual allegations.
The BBC documentary, titled “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret,” features accounts from 10 women who accuse the actor of inappropriate behaviour. Nine of them shared their experiences publicly for the first time.
One woman alleged that Leto had sex with her when she was 17. Another claimed that he made sexual threats when she was 19 after she was left alone with him in a hotel room.
A third woman alleged that she had a relationship with Leto when she was 17 and claimed he dismissed concerns about her age at the time.
Another woman said Leto repeatedly made inappropriate, sexually explicit phone calls with her when she was 16 and on at least one occasion, suggested they should have sex. She also claimed she later received a non-disclosure agreement connected to their relationship but refused to sign it.
The BBC said it investigated several of the women’s accounts by speaking with people they had shared their experiences with at the time. The broadcaster also said it reviewed photographs and messages that supported parts of some of the claims.
The documentary also includes statements from two people who previously worked with Leto’s band, Thirty Seconds to Mars. They alleged that some staff members had concerns about his behaviour and claimed he sometimes invited young women backstage or to private locations connected to his work.
Following the release of the documentary, Leto responded through his spokesperson and strongly rejected the allegations.
“I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false,” Leto said.
The actor’s statement came after the BBC said it made several attempts to contact him for a response before the documentary was released.
The claims are not the first allegations involving Leto. In 2025, American DJ Allie Teilz made accusations against him on social media, which Leto denied.
Last year, nine women also made allegations against the actor in a report by US publication Air Mail. Leto denied those claims as well.
